Books

The One Who Asks

2026. Paperback, 761 pages, and Kindle.

The data leans when he watches it.

A year after he lost his mind, Trey Vogler is back on the night shift at a Texas supercollider that was never cancelled, with three pills a day and one rule: no signs, no meaning, just data. Then a tiny excess appears in one decay channel, but only when someone is watching, and most of all when he is. An epic novel of science and faith, recovery and grief.

About the book and the prologue

The Deep End

Paperback, 399 pages, and ebook.

A novel about a breakup, a building, and a man who cannot tell whether he is being watched or writing a book.

In a converted cotton mill in New Orleans, a three-year relationship ends by text, and the woman who ended it lives one floor up. Over the next eighteen months the building starts to answer back. Autofiction built like a case file, with the nerve to leave the question open.

About the book and chapter one

The Sextant Protocol

A trilogy: The Sextant, The Meridian, The Compass. Also as one volume.

Three novels about a device that holds people where they are, and the people who keep the record of what that costs.

Nine years and three generations of one instrument, from New Orleans to Salt Lake City to Fort Moore, Georgia. Read in order, or start anywhere; each book stands on its own.

About

Troy Taliancich has lived in the same converted cotton mill in New Orleans for twenty-five years. It is the setting of his first novel, The Deep End, and the city where the Sextant Protocol trilogy begins and ends.

His novels are built from records: texts and meeting minutes, Sunday logs, a mother’s notebook of phone calls, a detector’s data stream. Each asks what the record can prove, and what it can’t.

He is the author of The One Who Asks, The Deep End, and The Sextant Protocol, and is at work on The Dog House.
